Abstract

In the training for the certified social workers at the bachelor level, it is important to acquire the method of empowerment-oriented social work. Students especially, can be encouraged to be empowered in their own lives as well as in their social work profession, while acquiring knowledge about empowerment through the practical seminar experience. In order to do that, first of all, it is necessary for the students to master the theoretical frameworks and the characteristics in social work practice principles such as the life enhancement process, and being able to think about and apply empowerment practice. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to clarify the characteristics of the theoretical frameworks mainly consisting of ecosystems and constructionist perspectives. In addition, the purpose is to analyze the fundamental characteristics of empowerment oriented social work from the aspects of practice principles in social work. Finally, those fundamental characteristics are considered based on the theoretical frameworks, while suggesting the necessity of constructing practical seminars in the education system to promote understanding of the theoretical frameworks and the special characteristics.
