This article proposes a procedure of word order analysis, namely 'intensive induction', which is the extension of tetrachoric table widely used in typology. Using this procedure, it is inferred that [Patient + Agent + V] and [Definite + Universal + V] orders are dominant to [Agent + Patient + V] and [Universal + Definite + V] orders respectively. A further conclusion based on the procedure is that the universal referent in universal judgment of Chinese is an adverbial in terms of syntactic position, neither a topic nor a subject as previously proposed by some syntacticians.
