Body divergence is a phenomenon of longitudinal unstability of a slender flying body. It is charac-terized by the point of view that it is produced due to the low bending stiffness of the vehicle, while the body flutter takes place due to the low natural frequency of bending of the body. Lateral aero-dynamic forces acted on the flying body can be roughly represented by the concentrated lateral forces near the nose and the tail. Bending of the body can be treated by the simple beam theory. It is shown that the critical divergence speed is simply estimated and the bending stiffness of the body can be experimentally obtained.
