説明

The strength and elongation of two-fold staple yarn have been analyzed here. Experimental data obtained show that the calculated strength and elongation agree well with the observed one. The main results are what follows :
1) When a two-fold staple yarn is broken, a pressure is produced in the yarn. The pressure is determined mainly by following function. This function is called pressure function.
F(θR', β)=1+ (log cosθR'/tan2θR')(2-4πΔsin2β)
And, θR' : Bottom twist angle of the single yarn in the two-fold yarn.
β : Ply twist helix angle.
Δ : Coefficient
The pressure function of single yarn is :
F(θR)=1+2 log cosθR/tan2θR
where θR is the twist helix angle of single yarn, and θR is the twist helix angle of single yarn.
2) The strength-twist curve of single yarn can be converted into the strength-pressure function curve, and the strength-bottom twist, ply twist curve of two-fold yarn into the strength-pressure function curve. The two strength-pressure function curve are the same essentially. So that, from the strength-twist curve of single yarn the strength-bottom twist, ply twist curve of two-fold yarn can be explained.
