Description

OCTA is a software developed by the NEDO project conducted at Nagoya University from 1998 to 2002. The objective of the project was to develop simulators which bridges the molecular characteristics of polymeric materials with their macroscopic properties. As various mesoscale simulators were developed, it became a serious problem how to integrate these simulators. We took an open policy for the integration, and invented the UDF (user definable format) to exchange information dealt with by these simulators. Here I give an overview of the OCTA system, explaining why we took the open policy for integration, and how we implemented it in our system.
