Description
Taking over the spirit of the traditional Ostwald color system, a new Ostwald-type color system aiming to enhance the accuracy of the digital color communication was presented. The system was named Hcw. In place of the Ostwald logarithmic function, a power function taking account of the CRT characteristics was incorporated in the model so as to convert the psychophysical color space into the perceptual color space. Like the Ostwald system, a double-cone color solid in the perceptually converted color space was adopted. By introducing the triangular coordinates of the very triangle in the converted color space, there removed was the drawback of the Ostwald system that the series of colors run parallel to the achromatic side do not have equal full color content while the equal whites and equal blacks do run parallel to the lower and upper side of the triangle respectively. Furthermore, the perceptual uniformity in the presented color triangle was proved to be superior to that of the Ostwald system.
