Description
Business development capturing design as a management resource has increasingly become a significant task towards not only big companies but also small-medium sized companies (SMEs). The purpose of this paper is to analyze what kind of impact is made on design activity of SMEs in collaboration with design universities. From the perspective of business administration, this paper aims to clarify issues in design activities of SMEs and figure out the significant view when considering this collaboration activity. Moreover, two cases of these collaborations with certain results have been selected and analyzed. It has become clear that university-industry collaborations by SMEs help not only to make good use of design resources of universities, achieve a resolution of problems of design activity SMEs face, but also to achieve organization learning through interaction with universities, improve design capacity.
