Abstract
The present study, to investigate the origin of the shape of Heishi used for a ritual of the Shinto shrine and to show the symbolism of Heishi, the most suitable shape was clarified by the analysis. Ceramic ware of Japan has developed by technological transmission from Chine and Korea. And copy of shape was frequently done. Heishi was accepted as center ceramic ware in Japan. It started around Seto production, and came to be used from the work of art to daily necessaries widely. It has been understood that the evaluation of" A swelling upper part is large" and "Shape to connect the upper part to the lower part is small R" and "The upper part ant the lower part are equal to the ration of length" is high as a result of analyzing suitable Heishi shap to enshrine it before the altar by the conjoint analysis.
