Abstract

This paper reviews the recent advances of environmental organic geochemical studies on compound-specific stable carbon isotope analysis (CSIA) for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and summarizes (i) analytical methods, (ii) isotopic fractionations during some environmental processes, (iii) endmembers, (iv) environmental samples, and (v) future perspectives for the studies on these issues. Future studies concerning CSIA for PAHs from various environmental source samples and isotopic fractionations during some environmental processes are essentially required.
