Description
In this research, the McCollough effect determined either by the Local Orientation or by the Global Oriontation of the stimulation was observed by using an ambiguous test pattern of coarse gratings made out of fine gratings. As a result, the Local Orientation had an advantage. However, the Global Orientation also had an advantage when the spatial frequency of the adaptation stimulus conformed with the spatial frequency of the test stimulus global feature. The reaction of the advanced Global Orientation occurred easily if the test stimulus was blurred to a strong degree. These results were not only determined by the initial level feature extraction machanism but were also influenced by the higher level of the processing mechanism.
