Description
The authors prepared various specimens of aluminium bronze containing other elements and examined their workability, tarnish-resistance, colours and mechanical properties for the purpose of discovering the excellent wrought imitation gold that is of low cost and has high tarnish-resistance. Especially as to tarnish-resistance, examination were carried out such as dipping test in NaCl, soap, acid and alkaline aqueous solution, exposure test in outdoor and ring test in the form of finger ring.<br>In various examinations, the following two alloys of Cu-Al-Ni-Mn system showed excellent result as compared with Tombac and binary aluminium bronze. They are No. 116 alloys (4%Al, 2%Ni, 1%Mn) and No. 102 alloy (4.5%Al, 1%Ni, 2%Mn).
