Abstract

Fossils of Plicatounio were collected from ten localities including the type-locality of the type-species, Plicatounio (Plicatounio) naktongensis, all of which lie in the Hasandong Formation, Gyeongsang Group in Korea, and in addition, from two localities in the Wakino Subgroup and the Mifune Group in Japan. This paper reviews the type species with special stress on the hinge structure. The crenulation on the postero-lateral hinge teeth is an original character and the presence or absence of it depends on the state of fossil preservation. Two new species, P. (P.) okjuni and P. (P.) yooni, are proposed.
