Abstract
The Usui Bridge (two-span continuous prestressed concrete cable-stayed, 222 m in length) is the first PC cable-stayed bridge with one central cable plane ever constructed as a highway bridge in Japan, located in the Usui pass as a part of Josin-Etsu Expressway. The bridge is characterized by an inverse Y-shaped tower, PC corbel that supports force from the tower and a main girder designed as a tri-cecullar box type. Particularly, the erection work with 9 steps fan-shaped double cable system was reduced by using shop assembled non-grout type large-capacity cable (tensile strength of max 1 500 tf). This paper reports the outline of the construction of the long span prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge.
