Description

In order to use cast-in-situ continuous diaphram walls as structural elements of a building subjected to long-time earth pressure and seismic shear forces, at least, next three items have to be investigated.
(1) Concrete quality and bond strength of deformed bar in cast-in-situ diaphram wall (2) Resisting mechanism of whole structure against seismic forces and strength of cast-in-situ continuous diaphram walls under both shear force and bending moment.(3) Construction method to connect cast-in-situ diaphram wall with structural elements of a building and strength of connectings.
This report presents some examples of aseismatic design methods of a building with these underground structural elements and describes abstract of our study on physical property and structural behavior of these walls. And, the validity of this aseismatic design method was examined both through the experiments of the usual reinforced concrete models and through the experiments of full-size specimens built in the actual field.
