This paper summarizes the state of the art and proposals on workability of fresh concrete. When fresh concrete of many different kinds of consistency was developed and used, an evaluation of the consistency to indicate workability of fresh concrete is very important. The problems of slump and properties change, the necessity of evaluation of vibrating behavior, and the state of the art of flow simulation of fresh concrete were discussed. Based on these discussions, a test method for consistency of fresh concrete for passing through closely spaced obstacles on table vibrator was proposed.
