A purpose of this study is forcused on the discussions concerning technical and physical problems which will be existed on the application of the simultaneous power delivery of CO and Nd: YAG laser by a single ir glass fiber for the new variable functioned laser treatment system. First, the distributions of two different kind of the output beam from the fiber were measured by means of scanning of the small sized ir detector. The fine agreement of the exposure view of CO laser and Nd: YAG laser from the fiber were obtained. Second, the effect of simultaneous exposure of these beams on living tissue were investigated in vitro. The results showed that the alteration of the power ratio of these beams induced the continuous variable function of light irradiation on living tissue.
