Abstract

Polystyrene particles, which were covered uniformly with fine ferrite powder and containing carbon black, were produced by suspension polymerization.
Experimental conditions, such as the added amounts of fine ferrite powder and carbon black and the impeller speed, were changed stepwise. It was investigated how the experimental conditions affected properties of composite particles, such as the size distribution, the mean size, the dispersity, the yield, and the adsorbed amount of fine ferrite powder.
As a result, the effect of the experimental conditions on several properties of the composite particles was quantitatively made clear to some extent.
Also, the surface of composite particles was observed by the SEM.
