Description
A fracture of the coracoid process is indicative of high-energy trauma and additional disorders are occurred. We reported on a case of fractures of the coracoid process and acromion with acromio-clavicular dislocation. A Case report. A 30 year-old man. He suffered from fractures of his right coracoid process and acromion with an acromio-clavicular dislocation(Rockwood type V)caused by a traffic injury. He also suffered additional disorders, such as pulmonary contusion and axillary nerve injury. He was treated conservatively. But he had dull pain and crepitus when he elevated his right shoulder and he was introduced to our hospitals. He underwent modified Cadenat's procedure for acromio-clavicular dislocation and coracoplasty for subcoracoid impingement. After the operation, pain and crepitus were relieved. Three months after the first surgery, his crepitus recurred. An additional operation was performed six months after the first operation. The screw for a modified Cadenat's procedure was removed and anterior acrominal-plasty and repair of partial rotator cuff tear of the supraspinatus tendon were performed. At six months after the second operation, his symptoms were relieved. We recommend surgical stabilization for displaced fractures of the coracoid process and acromion.
