Description

The surface treatment of titanium nitride with cetanol was investigated through X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy, dispersive property, pyrolysis and flow property on the blend of titanium nitride and paraffine. Results were summarized as follows : (1) The surface of titanium nitride was found to be covered by the oxide layer with the surface hydroxyl group. (2) The surface of titanium nitride could be treated with alcohols through the same methods of surface treatment of titanium oxide with alcohols. (3) The surface property varied from hydrophilic to hydrophobic by the alcohol treatment, however, the substrate could not be effected. (4) As the main product of pyrolysis of surface-treated titanium nitride was the olefine corresponding to the alcohol used, the surface group of that was found to be alcohoxyl group. (5) The flow rate of the blend of surface-treated titanium nitride and paraffine was higher than that of original titanium nitride.
