Description
We reevaluated the relationship between curing reaction and curing condition (temperature and humidity) of lacquer tree paint (urushi) systematically that had been evaluated empirically thus far. As a result, we found two mechanisms involved in the curing of urushi : enzyme-assisted and thermochemical reactions. Talking into account of the two reaction systems, we were able to explain some previously unknown phenomena in curing and properties of the films cured at different conditions.
