Abstract

With the advancement of biotechnology, several issues surrounding the patent protection of biotechnology related inventions are often debated. In particular, recent discussions focus on how specific should a biotechnology invention be developed to be patentable, and if the protection is granted, then how far could the right be enforced. These new questions stem from the trend to seek patent protection for breakthrough biotechnology inventions, in its early stage of development where it is highly difficult to specify the subject matter. This speech discusses patent protection of biotechnology from the perspective of how patent protection should be in case where the technology remains informational and unspecific.<br>
