Abstract

The Economic Research Institute Library, Japan Society for the Promotion of Machine Industry is the special library on machine industry. To improve the information services on this limited field, the society has published various types of association publications in the series of “KSK Library Series” for years. “Name Change Index of Japanese Engineering Companies” is one of these publications, and provides a good opportunity for publishing “A list of Changed Company Names of Japanese Corporation” in January 2006. This article introduces the process and the problems in designing and creating databases of the transition of company names. And it describes the assignment for information provision through the internet by EDINET, the system disclosing financial statements which is very linked to this database.<br>
