Description

Grey literature, also known as non-conventional literature, is defined as material not issued through normal commercial publishing channels and therefore difficult to access. It includes scientific and technical reports, translations, theses, conference papers, house journals, trade literature, official documents and so on . The degree of “greyness” varies from literature to literature. Activities towards improving the availability of grey literature are presented including NTIS database, SIGLE (System for Information on Grey Literature in Europe), and those of BLLD. In Japan, the production of a database for government reports and other material by JICST would be the first step along this line.
