Abstract

This paper examines the aspects of transformation and continuity of identity which a personal actor has.<br>A personal actor has collective identities when he/she acts as members of any groups. Thus the actor has various collective identities over time. The career of the actor is not only a status passage but also the process of acquiring new identities. This is the aspect of transformation of identity.<br> Personal identity as a reflexive act by a personal actor refers to the name which the actor has from the past to the future. In the refl exive act, the actor orders the collective identities in his/her career as his/her own personal identity, with terminologies of the groups which the actor has memberships at the moment. This is the aspect of continuity of identity.
