Abstract
There are housing developments without enough control in suburban areas of provincial cities in Japan. This study surveys actual situation of sprawled housing development in "Land-Use Passive Controlled Area" of Maruoka Town, which is growing as a bed-town of Fukui City. Problems shall be exposed and some issues for further urban policy will be proposed by residents' evaluation on living environment.Building confirmation record and residents' questionnaire showed that most new development housings are less than 200 m2 in lot size. Residents in those developments are not satisfied in public facilities, medical facilities and nature, compare to residents of old existing villages. Intention for settling down in concerned development is diminishing in new developments.
