説明

In Part I, a theoretical treatment of earthquake response problems of a structure with non-deterministic variables was discussed, and in Part II, the power spectral density properties of earthquake ground motions were statistically investigated as one of the stochastic properties of the non-deterministic variables concerning an earthquake response of a structure. In this paper, another stochastic variables, such as a dynamic coefficient of subgrade reaction, damping constant and so on, were statistically investigated. The mean value and the coefficient of variation of the dynamic coefficient of subgrade reaction were obtained analyzing the measured natural period of many standardized 5-storied apartment houses constructed by the Japan Housing Corporation. The natural period of these houses are varied with the ground characteristics of the housing areas. The coefficient of variation of the dynamic coefficient of subgrade reaction at a housing area is about 0.25 on the average, and is generally greater than this value for the housing area on the rigid ground and less on the soft ground. A damping constant is statistically related to natural period of a structure as shown in Eqs. 15 and 16. These relations were obtained applying the method of the least squares to the damping constants of actual buildings. The coeffcient of variation of the damping constants are about 0.4 to 0.5.
