Abstract

Cochrane, founded in 1992, has established methodologies for systematic reviews and been providing trusted and freely available health information by the hands of over 37,000 contributors from about 130 countries. Since the birth of the organization, it has been promoting consumer involvement in the process, as well as well-informed decision making in healthcare. All the Cochrane Reviews have been peer reviewed by consumers, particularly focused on patient-oriented outcome settings and appropriate use of the language. All the Reviews also have Plain Language Summaries. Its Library is open to all the people living in some countries, too. Based on the current knowledge and experiences, the focus will be how rather than if consumer is involved in healthcare research and decision making.
