Description

This report shows one of the experimental results as for elastoplastic behavior of I-section beams with high-tensile-bolted joints under repeated pure bending. Some of the results of the study are as follows : 1) The rigity of high-teusile-bolt-jointed beams is very high as compared with rivet-jointed beams and is almost the same as a jointless beam. 2) The load at the first major slip of high-tensile-bolt-jointed beams is higher than the computed value. 3) The load-deflection curves of high-tensile-bolt-jointed beams show a peculiar saw-tooth form after the initial slip. 4) The load at first major slip tends to decrease with repetition of loading. 5) The clamping force in the bolts tends to decrease with increasing load, the amount of reduction being most pronounced at the flanges in tension.
