Description
It has been known that carbamic acids were formed from amines and carbon dioxide. However, their chemical properties and the mechanism of their formation are not clear. Therefore, we are investigating interaction of amines with carbon dioxide. In this report, we report on the solvent dependence of the formation of 3-(1-naphthyl)propylcarbamic acid. After the bubbling CO2 through the solutions of 3-(1-naphthyl)propylamine in DMSO, DMF, pyridine, 1,4-dioxane, chloroform, acetonitrile, benzene, 2-propanol or methanol, the products were confirmed by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and HMBC spectra. We considered solvent effects by discussing the relation between these results and properties of the solvents.
