Abstract
Hydrogen-transfer reactions of acyloin derivatives were studied in order to understand how and when solvation-desolvation takes place in the reactions in solution. Acyloin is expected to isomerize via intramolecular hydrogen transfer under acidic and basic conditions. The mechanism of the hydrogen transfer was analyzed on the basis of the equilibrium constants and the reaction rates of benzoin derivatives under these conditions.
