Description

Tuning of electronic structure of porphyrinoids is very important and many succsessful examples were reported. Inorder to create a new porphyrin-based pai system, we have developed a new synthesis of high pure pai-expanded etrabenzoporphyrin and their core-modified derivative based on the final retro-Diels-Alder conversion of bicyclo(2,2,2)octadiene-fused 5-membered heterocyclic parts into their benzo(c) moieties. However little attention had been paied for the thermal decomposition routes, though the reactions had to involve many intermediates. We planned to examine the retro-Diels-Alder reactions of quadruply bicyclo(2,2,2)octadiene-fused porphyrinoids giving tetrabenzoporphyrins in detail by combination of thermogravietric analysis and identification of the intermadiates.
