Description
In order to clarify the structure-function relationship of carotenoids bound to the LH1 antenna pigment-protein complex, we studied the re-association between synthetic carotenoids and carotenoid-depleted LH1. The spectroscopic properties of the re-associated complexes and the energy transfer efficiency from carotenoids to BChl a were clarified and discussed in comparison to previous experiments. Moreover, we studied the selectivity of carotenoids in the LH1 complex formation.
