Abstract
Transition metal complexes bearing tripodal tetradentate ligands have attracted considerable interest due to their ability for the activation of small molecules, the stabilization of reactive species with unusual electric and geometric structures, catalytic activities, and so on. Although there are many reports on tripodal tetradentate ligands containing amine or phosphine moieties as donors, tripodal tetradentate ligands tethered with three thioether moieties are very rare. In this paper, we present the synthesis of phosphine and silyl ligands tethered with three thioether moieties, P(2-C6H4SR)3 (R = i-Pr, t-Bu) and –Si(2-C6H4CH2SR)3 (R = i-Pr, t-Bu), respectively, and their complexation with transition metals.
