Abstract
Recently, much attention has been focused on transition metal complexes with tripodal tetradentate ligands from the viewpoints of the activation of small molecules and the stabilization of model complexes for the intermediates of biological reactions. However, the studies on tripodal tetradentate silyl ligands have been less explored. In this paper, we present the synthesis of a new silyl ligand tethered with three sulfide moieties and their metal complexes. Hydrosilanes, [2-(RSCH2)C6H4]3SiH (1), were synthesized by the reaction of 2-(RSCH2)C6H4Li with SiHCl3. Reaction of hydrosilanes 1 with [IrCl(cod)]2 in dichloromethane at room temperature yields the corresponding six-coordinate iridium complexes 2. Square-planar platinum complexes 3 with the silyl ligands were synthesized by the reaction of [PtCl2(cod)] with hydrosilanes 1.
