Abstract
In recent years, the nonlinear ultrasonic testing has attracted attention to detect a closed crack in materials. However, the generation mechanism of higher- and sub-harmonics is still not fully understood. Therefore, in this research, a regularized traction time-domain boundary integral equation method is developed for the 3-D analysis of crack opening and closure behavior. The convolution quadrature method (CQM) is applied to the time discretization of the boundary integral equation. Numerical results show that crack opening and closure processes cause higher harmonics generation.
