Description
This research is related with the wind power generation which attracts attention from a viewpoint of environmental problems in recent years, such as global warming and resource drain. The wind turbine for research is a vertical axis one called CYGNUSMILL which can start the wind from any direction. This wind turbine has conquered starting from the low wind speed which was the fault of a gyromill type wind turbine with special braid form. The purpose of this research is to conduct a wind tunnel experiment of CYGNUSMILL using a Gottingen type wind tunnel, and to explain the performance of this wind turbine. In this experiment, a power generation characteristic experiment of a wind turbine is conducted and a torque characteristic of a wind turbine is computed from that result. Starting at low wind speed has been checked from the experimental result. Moreover, a feature as the drag type wind turbine is shown from power coefficient and tip speed ratio.
