Abstract
A computational method incorporating the finite element model into the data assimilation using the particle filter is presented for the identification of elasto-plastic material properties based on sequential measurements under the known changning traction boundary conditions. Soil-water coupled problem using the Cam clay constitutive model is dealt with as geotechnical application. Measured data on settlement and pore pressure are obtained from practical construction works. The present paper discusses the priority of the particle filter in applying to initial/boundary value problems for elasto-plastic material and demonstrates a couple of numerical examples for the ground behavior under embankment loading.
