Description
Flow properties of colloidal dispersion are controlled by coagulation of colloidal particles in the dispersion. Coagulation in flow fields has been studied in in the presence of repulsive electric double layer force. However, little has been studied on the hetero-coagulation of oppositely charged particles in flow field. In this study, the kinetic of turbulent hetero-coagulation was investigated as a function of salt concentration. The experimental results showed that the rate increases with decreasing salt concentration due to the development of attractive double layer force. This enhancement is significant for smaller particles. Trajectory analyses describe this trend.
