Abstract
Free surface phenomena of magnetic fluid are caused by the interaction between the magnetic field and the fluid. Thus, their analyses require both the magnetic analysis and the fluid analysis. The present research has established a method to obtain the interface magnetic field which satisfies the harmonic property and the interface boundary conditions under arbitrary interface profiles and applied magnetic field distributions. This method is used for the interface stability analysis in combination with the fluid analysis for arbitrary interface profiles.<BR> Before free surface analyses for various interface profiles and applied magnetic field distributions, the result by the present method is compared with that by the previous linear harmonic analysis and weak nonlinear analysis.
