Description
Cracking in early age of concrete affects durability of concrete structures. This research presents numerical modeling of shrinkage induced cracking in concrete. Concrete is modeled using a Rigid-Body-Spring Model (RBSM), which is one of discrete type models. The RBSM is suited towards problems where material discontinuity is dominant. Shrinkage cracking due to drying is predicted by diffusion analysis based on 1-dimensional truss networks.
