Abstract
A cable-stayed bridge with low-rise towers is often planned due to the restriction of tower height near an airport. Since the vertical bending rigidity by cable stay decreases, it is feared that the aerodynamic stability also decreases. A past study showed that flutter critical wind speed of a low-rise tower cable-stayed bridge does not decrease so much. In this study, the gust response characteristics of such bridge at both a completion stage and erection stage are investigated. The results are also examined to compare with those of a normal tower height cable-stayed bridge.
