Description

We introduced many air bubbles into 5% I-type collagen solution containing tiny amounts of chloroform by homogenizing. The bubbled solution was freezed at -35 degree centigrade for half day, freeze-dried for 1 day, and cross-linked at 130 degree centigrade for 6 hours using a vacuum oven. After ethylene oxide sterilization, we cultured rat osteoblasts UMR106 cells in the prepared sponges. After 1 day incubation, the cell visbility rates were relatively high at around 10%, indicating good cell-adhesion condition.
