Abstract
It is necessary to make a performance based system for the standard for civil structure corresponded to the international one. In this paper, in-situ tests and field observation were conducted on a thick layer embankment for clarifying performance of specific construction method. Test result shows that a thick layer construction has the same performance as former layer, and those values from the standard penetration test and PS logging are constant with embankment depth in both construction methods. In addition, the estimation of shear modulus indicates that this embankment is stiff.
