Abstract

Recently, effective use of various industrial wastes has become a social problem seriously. Fly ash (FA) is one of those materials, which is produced from coal-fueled power plants plentifully. In this study, applicability of FA as a substitute of fine aggregate for roller compacted concrete was investigated experimentally. As a result, sufficient usability was confirmed even in 100% of replacing ratio so called no sands (NS) condition. Mix design method of NS-FA roller compacted concrete was proposed. Furthermore, unit weight of water can be reduced to 150kg/m3 on this concrete by taking the unit volume of coarse aggregate for the percentage of absolute volume. The unit weight of cement was approximately 300kg/m3, which is almost the same as general roller compacted concrete.
