Abstract

According to the analytical results of RC column members under multi-axes bending based on the fiber technique, damage index for seismic performance evaluation is proposed. Elastic-plastic fracture model for concrete compression enables to calculate fracture parameter (the ratio of constituent elements maintaining the abilities to support stress) of each microscopic cross section area. The average value across cross section is determined as the index of cross section damage level. It is verified that this proposed index can approximately judge the equivalent damage level to the yield capacity point after softening of RC column members not only for one-directional loading but also multi-directional loading. Moreover, this method is also effective for RC members with confinement effect of core concrete by stirrups.
