A series of consolidation tests of fresh mortar and concrete was carried out to construct a consolidation model of fresh concrete and to predict the behavior of fresh concrete consolidated by a various kinds of dewatering methods. This paper reports results of a couple of experiments I and II. In the experiment I, the effect of various factors on the quantity of consolidation was examined. In the experiment II, the distribution of the excess pore water pressure in specimens was measured. As a result, it was made clear that the consolidation theory can be largely applied to fresh mortar and concrete, and there is a strong relationship between the final quantity of consolidation and the water content per unit volume of mortar except for specimens consolidated from the time of finishing of bleeding.
