Description

In this paper I address the question, what kind
of meaning does that Charles Frederick Worth's
apprenticeship from 1838 to 1845 in London had?
He(1825-1895) was the founder of the French Haute
Couture Association in 1868. However, he was a
Englishman and apprenticed from 13 years old to 20
years old in Swan & Edgar in London. Although this
store was a Drapery's shop at the foundation in 1812, it
developed into the early department store in the 1840s.
The National Gallery where Worth studied the fashion
seeing a portrait of Elizabeth I carried out refurbishment
opening in 1838 which he came to London. Consequently
it became clear that the experience of Worth's London
age became a base of acitivities in Paris.
