Abstract
Vector representation for line drawings is high efficient image coding considering signal characteristic. Vector graphics could display using device capability and be provided with layer structure. However, mostly binary images use dither methods in order to represent pseudo continuous tone. This method takes advantage of raster characteristic. At first, we evidence that a simple vector conversion from binary images with halftone dots, it is a sort of dither method, has poor performance. Then, we propose halftone dots separation and continuous tone approximation, vector conversion from both line drawings and them. Finally, we could perform efficient image coding for binary images with halftone dots using vector representation.
