Abstract
Portland is known as one of the most bike friendly cities in the United Stetes. We’ve conducted research; (1) interview with the key persons of bicycle community building, (2) visiting places of bike culture, (3) bicycle riding experience and observation of bicycle routes and infrastuructures. We’ve discovered that there are many bicycle related events: Pedalpalooza, Sunday Parkways and Zoobomb. Bicycle friendly places, Velo Cult for instance, is also playing an important role in the community building. For both events and places, “fun”is the key factor in order to foster the bike culture and community of bicycling.
