Abstract

The Kamado Project is a Creative Reconstrction Project of University of Tsukuba. The activity started from finding a Kamado, a traditional Japanese cooker using firewood, at a house which was built in the begging of Showa period. Using Kamado has following meanings; (1) Prepare for desasters (2) Bond together (3) Gain awareness of the local resources. First, the team learned how to cook rice with it, and held food events using Kamado. Then the project evolved into Kamado making, and we made 17 of them. While the experience of the project became deeper, the method of Kamado making became simpler.
